For the first time, the KempenAir
Balloon Festival was organized in Grobbendonk.
This balloon event used to be held in Olen, about 17 km west of
Grobbendonk.
The weekend didn't look very good weather-wise.
On Friday afternoon we drove towards Grobbendonk and we were
able to park the car in a field along the Boshoven (road).
After a short walk we reached the event area. Near de road
Pullaard.
And there we waited to see whether the wind would decrease
enough that evening to allow the first flight to continue.
Things seemed to be going well, but while the balloons were
being inflated the wind picked up strongly again,
meaning that only a small number of balloons could leave.
After the balloons left, they inflated and straightened two old
balloons, but this was not easy due to the wind.
Below you can see a number of overview pictures and the balloons
that have left.
